Creator in Residence 

Position: Part-Time, In-Office/Event Coverage, Tuesdays Required in Office
Compensation: $17 hr
Start Date: End of May or Early June
Experience Required: Experience with content creation - must have a few examples of videos you’ve made

Position Overview:

Are you passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and making an impact through digital platforms? Folkways and CampusFM are seeking a Creator in Residence to craft compelling video content that showcases the vibrancy of the Fargo-Moorhead community. This role is ideal for a skilled storyteller and video editor who thrives both behind and in front of the camera. You will play a key role in capturing and creating content that highlights events, student initiatives, and partner collaborations. We are seeking a dynamic and creative individual to who is adept at staying ahead of trends, and can contribute to other Folkways marketing projects.

Who You Are

  • A strong storyteller and video editor

  • Comfortable in an interview-style, on-camera setting

  • Skilled at adapting to different brand voices for sponsor and partner work

  • Looking to learn more about marketing

Responsibilities:

  • Content Capture: Capture photos and videos during Folkways events. Prepare photos, videos, and captions for hourly posts and stories during Red River Market and Night Bazaar events.

  • Content Creation: Collaborate with the marketing team to generate engaging and visually appealing content for Folkways, Red River Market, and CampusFM across various social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok.

  • Research and Trend Analysis: Stay updated on the latest social media trends, algorithms, and best practices. Conduct research on industry trends, competitor strategies, and audience preferences to inform our content strategy.

  • Copywriting: Assist in writing captivating captions, and promotional materials that resonate with our target audience and effectively communicate our brand message.

  • Community Engagement: Build social media strategies that include community outreach and community engagement .

  • Campaign Support: Aid in the planning, execution, and analysis of social media campaigns and promotions to drive brand awareness, increase engagement, and achieve marketing objectives.

  • Analytics and Reporting: Track key performance metrics using social media analytics tools. Compile data and generate reports to evaluate the effectiveness of our social media efforts and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for social media, marketing, and storytelling.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creativity and ability to think outside the box.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and trends.

  • Basic graphic design skills (knowledge of Canva or video editing apps is a plus).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required:

  • 1 day in the Folkways office during the week, Tuesdays required in office 

  • Available for at least 75% of our event dates to capture content and assist with social media promotion

Event Dates:

  • Red River Market: Saturdays, July 11th - October 31st

  • Night Bazaar: Thursday evenings, Jun 25, Jul 30, AUG 20, Sep 10, Oct 15

  • Christkindlmarkt: Two weekends, Nov 21-23 and Nov 28-30

  • Days off from the market or bazaar can be scheduled and approved in advance
