RIBBON CUTTING & DEDICATION CEREMONY

Join Folkways and VFW Post 762 as we celebrate the completion of the America 250 Mural with a public ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony!

Created in honor of America's 250th anniversary, the America 250 Mural celebrates American history, recognizes veteran service, and transforms Roberts Alley into a lasting civic landmark. Designed by Fargo artist Meg Felix and installed in partnership with Upper Hand Signs, the mural reflects Folkways' belief that public art brings people together, preserves our shared history, and creates places where communities connect.

The dedication ceremony will feature remarks from Joe Burgum, Lesleyanne Wild, Admiral Stewart Munsch, and Mayor-elect Josh Boschee.

Join us afterwards for free refreshments and burgers.

About the project:

The mural, located in Roberts Alley behind the VFW Post 762 building, will honor American history, recognize veteran service, and create a lasting civic landmark in downtown Fargo. Designed by artist Meg Felix and led by Folkways resident artist Lesleyanne Wild, the project will feature classic Americana imagery in the American Traditional tattoo style, including an eagle on a shield of arms, Lady Liberty, and the iconic North Dakota bison on a VFW crest.

Log travels around the Fargo-Moorhead area to share warmth. Sweat with your crew by reserving an entire slot or get to know members of the community - each session can host up to 6 people and children are welcome. Frostival tickets sponsored by Moorhead Parks.

IMPORTANT FAQs

What do I wear? A traditional full-sized sauna bath towel to wear during your session and private changing space will be provided. You can wear a swimsuit, shorts, or just a towel if you feel comfortable. We recommend bringing or wearing loose and comfortable clothing like a sweatpants and sweatshirt that you will want to put on after you sauna. Please refrain from wearing jewelry while in the sauna. Metals can heat up quickly and become uncomfortable.

What should I bring? Please bring a water bottle and a pair of slip-on shoes like slippers or sandals.

How many people can go in the sauna? Coming in at seven feet tall, Log is larger than you might expect. We can host up to six people at a time quite comfortably. Saunas are a communal experience, so be ready to meet new people and share the warmth together.

How long will guests be allowed to stay in the sauna? Sauna sign-up periods last for 45 minutes plus time for you to change clothes. You will be guided through your sauna sessions, one dry and one humid that are both followed by cooling off periods. We recommend that each session last up to 10 minutes with breaks in between.

Who can sauna? Anyone can sauna! No experience is necessary, however, if you feel like you're catching a cold or are pregnant, we don't recommend using the sauna.

Can I rent the sauna for a private event or my own public event: Yes! The day buyout rate for the Log the Sauna is $700 for 6 hours of sauna sessions. The buyout rate includes sauna transport within 15 miles of city limits, sauna session facilitator, and sauna towels.
